Dick Charles, 84, an avid fisherman and golfer and the former owner of Glenview Camera Shop, died February 19 in Evanston. Mr. Charles was born in Mansfield, Ohio. He served in combat with the U.S. Army’s 355th Infantry Regiment in Europe during World War II. After the war he graduated from Northwestern University. Mr. Charles was known among relatives for the scores of pictures he brought back from fishing trips—photos that uniformly showed him posing with his catch in hand. Until about 18 years ago, Mr. Charles operated the camera store with business partner, Ed Evans. Mr. Charles is survived by a nephew, Rick Hanson (Cynde), of University City, MO; a niece, Carol McCord (Rob) of San Jose, CA; a cousin, Bill Charles of Sausalito, CA; and five great nieces. He was preceded in death by his close friends Bridgett and Dylan. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Funeral Info 847-998-1020.
